The Toyota Corolla needs no introduction. As one of the best-selling vehicles in both Canada and the rest of the world, Toyota’s compact sedan has proven its worth thanks to its impressive build quality and reliability, as well as its tremendous value. The only part that was perhaps missing in the Corolla lineup was a more practical alternative. That’s now been resolved with the all-new 2017 Toyota Corolla iM.
Starting at $22,540, the 2017 Toyota Corolla iM is powered by a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder fuel-efficient engine that features Valvematic technology and that delivers 137 horsepower. This engine can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).
Unlike other CVTs available on the market, however, the Corolla iM’s CVT, called CVTi-S, features simulated shift points in order to replicate the drive feel and behavior of a traditional automatic transmission while providing more control to the driver.
That said, what really stands out in the new Toyota Corolla iM is its interior space. Featuring 588 liters of cargo space, the Corolla iM is one of the most spacious vehicles in its segment. The Corolla iM is hands down the perfect vehicle for active consumers or young families who need a vehicle that can handle everything they need to transport on a regular basis.
The Toyota Corolla iM packs an impressive list of standard equipment starting with safety. Indeed, the new 2017 Corolla iM comes standard with Toyota’s Safety Sense-C (TSS-C) suite of active safety technologies which include Toyota Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, and Automatic High Beams. No other vehicle offers such advanced safety features at no extra charge in the Corolla iM’s segment.
Other standard features include 7” Display Audio system with voice recognition, Bluetooth and steering wheel-mounted controls, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, a 4.2” multi-function display, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. There is also a standard back-up camera along with whiplash injury lessening front seats.
“We’re pleased to add the Corolla iM to the Toyota line-up and broaden the Corolla family for 2017,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice-President, Toyota Canada Inc. “This spirited, stylish hatchback is an urban, sporty vehicle, ready to bring joy to the young and young at heart.”
