The Toyota RAV4 is by far the best choice in the compact SUV segment. It offers unbeatable reliability and resale value, but it also boasts some of the best technologies and engines in the business to provide you and your family with everything you need to conquer the road. The RAV4 is assembled in Canada, and comes in many models and variant to suit the needs of a wide variety of drivers. Every variant is highly versatile and advanced in terms of technologies under the hood and inside the cabin.
Here, we compare the 2021 Toyota RAV4 with the newly released 2022 Hyundai Tucson.
More performance in the 2021 Toyota RAV4
The RAV4 is built on a platform that multiplies the possibilities, but also provides maximum safety in the event of an accident. In most variants, buyers can opt for the trusty four-cylinder, 2.5-litre engine which outputs 203 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. The 2022 Tucon’s main engine only outputs 190 hp and 182 lb-ft of torque – which is considerably lower in terms of performance. The RAV4’s Trail variant can also tow up to 3,500 pounds of anything you want to put behind it.
RAV4 owners can also choose the RAV4 Hybrid and RAV4 Prime options. The RAV4 Prime is a PHEV powertrain that uses a 2.5-litre engine combined with a powerful electric motor and high output battery to produce an unprecedented 302 horsepower.
The 2022 Tucson’s PHEV model is not available yet, but it is only rated at 261 horsepower on paper. The RAV4 Prime can also travel on a distance of 68 kilometres in full electric mode.
The 2021 Toyota RAV4 is more efficient and more capable
The RAV4 has always been a leader in terms of efficiency, even before hybrid powertrains rolled in. For example, the value-packed base FWD RAV4 only uses 8.8 L/100 km in the city and 6.8 L/100 km on the highway. The base FWD 2022 Tucson is less efficient, with 9.1 L/100 km in the city and 7.1 L/100 km on the highway.
The 2021 Toyota RAV4 offers better engines, better capabilities and will keep its resale value much longer than the Hyundai Tucson. You can shop for your car online with us. Our representatives are waiting for your call or e-mail and can answer all your questions.
