The all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra was unveiled earlier this month and it wasted no time become a hit with truck enthusiasts and owners alike. The new Tundra is more rugged, more powerful, more capable, and better than ever at meeting the needs of truck owners. With a new engine, advanced powertrains, remarkable safety tech, more luxury features and a bold new design, the 2022 Toyota Tundra is everything you want in your next truck. Let’s take a closer look.
A New Powertrain Lineup With More Torque and Capability for the 2022 Toyota Tundra
The 2022 Toyota Tundra features an impressive new powertrain lineup that delivers better performance with a remarkable gain in fuel economy as well. The base 3.5-litre twin-turbe V6 engine delivers 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, a gain over the outgoing Tundra’s V8 while the fuel consumption will be noticeably less.
That said, the most impressive new feature of the 2022 Toyota Tundra lineup is the new i-FORCE MAX system. The technology houses a motor generator between the gearbox and the engine in order to boost power output when needed. The end result is an output of 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque, which is simply staggering.
The 2022 Toyota Tundra has a maximum towing capacity of 12,000 pounds and a max payload of 1,940 pounds which is very, very impressive. It is available in two body configurations (Double Cab and CrewMax), five trims (SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, and 1794), and three bed lengths (5.5 feet, 6.5 feet, and 8.1 feet). The new Tundra also offers two TRD packages including TRD Off-Road and TRD Sport.
Last but not least, the 2022 Toyota Tundra offers a range of new technologies inside that make it safer and more comfortable. Offered standard or as options are heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, rear sunshade and heated steering wheel as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The latter are housed in a standard 8-inch touchscreen with an optional 14-inch touchscreen being available. The new Tundra also gets a new infotainment system as well as the range of features in the Toyota Connected Services mobile app.
