Impressive sales for the Toyota RAV4 in 2021

We know the Toyota RAV4 is a popular vehicle with consumers, but we don't realize how much until we take a look at its sales figures. Since its redesign in 2018, it's absolutely mind-boggling.

That year, Toyota sold 55,385 units nationwide. In 2019, this figure rose to 65,248. Then, in the middle of the pandemic year, when we expected to see a decline, sales recorded an increase with 67,977 versions sold.

And this year, there are no signs of slowing down. In the first four months of the year, the Canadian division of Toyota managed to sell 23,585 versions of its RAV4, which puts it on a record pace of 70,755 units (projection). In April alone, a new record was established with 7,920 models sold.

No other vehicle sells better across the industry, other than pickup trucks from the Big Three American manufacturers.

Frankly, the performance of the model is impressive.

Two other stars

Our overview of Toyota’s strong performance wouldn't be complete without a nod to two cars offered in the lineup, the Corolla and the Camry. The first ranks second in car sales since January 1, while the second is camped in sixth place.

But it goes further. The Corolla trails the Honda Civic by less than 100 units (10,884 versus 10,788) while the Camry is the best-selling midsize car in the country, far ahead of the Honda Accord, its long-standing rival (3,418 units versus 2,110).

Cars overall are less popular than they used to be, but those sold by Toyota remain benchmarks in their respective categories.
