The Toyota RAV4 isn't North America's best-selling SUV for nothing. If so many people choose it as their next family vehicle, it is because it offers them everything they want. Let's take the time to discover it from all angles.
To do this, we'll go with the three main configurations of the model, the gasoline engine, the hybrid powertrain, as well as the plug-in hybrid. This will allow us to cover the 12 different RAV4s that are available to you.
Gasoline
In all, there are six versions of the RAV4 which are powered only by the gasoline engine, a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine offering 203 horsepower. There are two front-wheel drive versions, the LE and XLE models. They are also offered with all-wheel drive.
Then, a little higher in the range, we find the Trail version, the one that offers the best towing capacity at 3,500 pounds, as well as the Limited version, the one offering the most features and luxury. That said, all 2021 RAV4 models come with advanced safety standard thanks to the Toyota Safety Sense system which includes adaptive cruise control and automatic braking for pedestrians, cars, and cyclists.
Hybrid
If it's a RAV4 Hybrid you want, there are four different versions available to you - the LE, XLE, XLE and Limited trim levels. Toyota breaks standards here by offering electrification from the entry-level trim.
And to give you an idea of efficiency, we're talking about an average fuel consumption of 6 liters per 100 km. That’s remarkable for an SUV offering over 1,000 litres of standard cargo space.
Plug-in hybrid
Finally, there are the Prime versions, the latest to join the family. Here we are dealing with hybrid versions, but which offer an electric range of 68 km, so that it is possible to drive most of the time without having to use the gasoline engine. When the latter kicks in, the model acts as a hybrid and offers the same fuel consumption. It’s also the most powerful RAV4 by far with 302 horsepower.
Do you understand better now why the Toyota RAV4 is so popular? It really is for everyone and there’s a version for every need!
