Say hello to the brand-new 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander. The latest Toyota sport utility vehicle is more than just a new version of the Highlander, is more spacious and comes with three distinct trims and three available powertrains. It slots between the current Highlander and the larger Sequoia, and provides buyers with a much more appealing option if you are looking to use the three rows in your SUV often but you don't want to compromise cargo space when doing so. If the new Highlander wasn't spacious enough for you, the Grand Highlander might be perfect.
A lot of cargo space and plenty of room in the back
The 2024 Toyota Gran Highlander will feature an available third row that Toyota says will be spacious enough to accommodate adults on long trips. The standard passenger space allows for eight occupants, but the middle row can become two captains chairs in certain versions. The Grand Highlander also delivers 400 extra litres of total cargo space compared to the Highlander that we already know. This should translate into a much more welcoming cargo area when all seats are in place. Toyota says you can get seven carry-on bags behind the third row in the new Grand Highlander.
Impressive trio of engines
2024 Toyota Grand Highlander features an impressive trio of powertrains with a standard 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine delivering 264 hp and 310 pound-feet of torque out of the gate. This engine is also found on the traditional Highlander and will provide 5,000 pounds of towing capacity. Next is a 2.5-litre hybrid engine also shared with the current Highlander. This powertrain should deliver approximately 243 hp which will allow this SUV to average under 7 L per 100 km in combined fuel consumption despite its ample power and the size of the Grand Highlander.
The surprise addition to the powertrain lineup in the 2024 Grand Highlander is assuredly the new Hybrid MAX powertrain. This impressive powertrain gives you performance and efficiency, delivering 362 hp and 400 pound-feet of torque, more than enough to reach 100 km/h in under seven seconds.
Long list of available features
The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander delivers plenty of value as well. Standard safety features include Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, blind spot monitoring, and it also offers an available rearview camera as well as 360-degree parking assistance with automatic braking and traffic jam assist.
The Grand Highlander will feature standard heated and power front seats with a standard heating steering as well. Leather seats as well as ventilated front seats and second row seats are available.
Lastly, the 2024 Grand Highlander has you covered when it comes to connectivity. The Toyota SUV features the Toyota Multimedia infotainment system with advanced voice commands and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also includes the full suite of Toyota Connected services that allow you to be connected to a live agent at the touch of a button to get help or emergency assistance as well as Toyota Remote Connect features that allow you to access your vehicle using a mobile app. A wireless cellphone charger is also standard.
