Thinking about winter tires for your Toyota? Here’s a quick guide that can help

With winter just about here, it’s time to start thinking about winter tires for your Toyota. Here are a few tips that we hope will help you when checking, replacing, or installing your winter tires on your Toyota car, truck, minivan, or SUV.

Check to see if your winter tires are still in good condition

Before having your winter tires installed, you need to make sure they are still in good condition. There are different ways you can do that:

Think back to last winter – Did you feel like your tires were losing their effectiveness towards the end of last year’s winter? Were you noticing that braking distances had increased, and your tires were slipping more often? That could be a sign they need to be replaced.

Check the tread indicator – Your tires have a tread wear indicator on them that will let you know if they need to be replaced.

Use a quarter – You can insert a quarter into the groove with the caribou’s nose facing down. If you still see the nose, the tires should be replaced.

Choosing the right winter tires for your Toyota

If you determine that your tires need to be replaced, you should speak with an expert that not only knows tires, but also knows Toyota vehicles. The key is finding the best winter tires for your specific needs. Different vehicles need different tires, and a Toyota Tundra that goes off-roading a lot won’t have the same needs as a front-wheel drive Toyota Prius or a Toyota RAV4. We can help at our tire centre.

Make sure your tires are balanced and your wheels are aligned when installing

The benefit of buying your tires here is that we can also install them, align your wheels, check your suspension’s geometry, and balance your tires. We can also have your summer tires stored in the proper environment.
