When the Toyota Venza debuted in fall 2008 as a 2009 model, it immediately caused a sensation to the point of becoming one of the brand's most popular models. It was produced without major changes until 2017.
And for 2021, after a few years of absence, it is making a marked return to the family. However, this is not a simple evolution of the model that we have known. The 2021 Toyota Venza is completely transformed vehicle. Here are three things to know about it.
1 - Hybrid only
The first Venza was offered with two gasoline engines, a 4-cylinder and a V6. This time, we are entitled to a completely different philosophical approach with only one possible option and the latter is a hybrid engine.
Thus, under the hood sits a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, which is supported by three electric motors. One is at the back, two at the front. This configuration makes it possible to take advantage of standard all-wheel drive. In normal driving, all of the power is sent to the front wheels, but 80% can be transferred to the rear as needed.
The combined powertrain delivers 219 horsepower. The real winner is with the average consumption, which is set at 6.1 liters per 100 kilometers.
2 - Structure and safety
The 2021 Toyota Venza is positioned between the RAV4 and the Highlander in the range, offering consumers even more choice. It is based on the Toyota Harrier which is offered elsewhere on the planet by the company. The newcomer is mounted on the new platform of Toyota vehicles, the TNGA (Toyota New Global Artchitecture). The latter offers increased rigidity which translates into a more solid, reassuring driving experience.
In terms of safety, the Toyota Venza sees each of its versions receive the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite. It offers six standard features, including a frontal collision warning system with detection of pedestrians, vehicles and cyclists (daytime), a lane departure warning system with steering assistance, automatic headlights, lane keeping assistance, as well as adaptive cruise control.
3 - Three well-equipped versions
The Toyota Venza comes in three versions and each is generously equipped. As proof, the base LE version serves things like heated front seats and wireless charging for cellular devices. Starting with the XLE variant, the multimedia system's display goes from 8 to 12.3 inches and receives navigation and a higher-quality JBL 9-speaker sound system. The model also offers a hands-free opening tailgate, a heated steering wheel, as well as ventilated front seats.
Then, with the Limited livery, you get the StarGaze fixed panoramic roof with transparency control, a feature usually found on luxury models.
The 2021 Toyota Venza, an SUV that has everything to revive the love story that the first generation of the product had with consumers.
